Companion Abu al-Darda was a noble companion from the Ansar who converted on the day of Badr. He left trade to devote himself entirely to worship and was one of the few who compiled the Quran during the Prophet's lifetime. Caliph Omar sent him to Syria to teach the Quran, and he became the chief judge of Damascus under Caliph Uthman. He died in 32 AH and is buried in Soom al-Shanaq, Irbid.
