The Cave of the Seven Sleepers (Ahl al-Kahf) is located in Rajib (historically Al-Raqeem) near Abu Alanda, east of Amman. According to the Quranic narrative and Christian history, a group of monotheistic Christian youths and their loyal dog fled persecution by a Roman emperor and slept miraculously inside this cave for 309 lunar years. The cave contains eight stone graves, ruins of Byzantine churches, and a mosque.
