The Battlefield of Mu'tah is the historic site where the first major military confrontation between the nascent Muslim forces and the Byzantine Empire took place in 8 AH (629 AD). The battle was triggered by the execution of the Prophet's envoy, Al-Harith bin Umayr, and resulted in the martyrdom of the three consecutive commanders appointed by the Prophet: Zayd, Ja'far, and Abdullah. It is located in Karak Governorate.
