The Battlefield of Yarmouk is the historic site of the Battle of Yarmouk in 15 AH (636 AD) near the Yarmouk River in Irbid Governorate. It was one of the most decisive battles in military history, where Muslim forces led by Khalid bin al-Walid defeated the vastly superior Byzantine army of Emperor Heraclius, opening the Levant to Islam.
