Companion Farwa bin Amr al-Judhami was the Roman governor of Ma'an, Petra, and southern Jordan who secretly converted to Islam and sent gifts to the Prophet. When the Romans discovered his conversion, they imprisoned him and demanded he recant. He chose martyrdom and was crucified near Afra Hot Springs in Tafilah. He is respected as a companion-level martyr (Tabi'i).
